Started reading Boy Parts by Eliza Clark over the weekend. Irina is the type of chracter you can't get enough of as a reader, but would hate to meet in real life. Eliza Clark manages to turn the male gaze on its head without ever falling into preaching. She created a female character, who reduces their male models to what they can represent in her pictures. Her fetishizing obsession drew me in from the very beginning. Irina reminds me of the male characters from Herman Hesse's works. I have always been fascinated by these outsiders, who often create their often philosophical identities.
